“somatic satiation”
The artist’s first solo exhibition and the beginning of their work with lens-based media to explore the politics of Black visibility. Entitled Somatic Satiation, the exhibition aimed to explore the dual process whereby race is embodied and the body racialized, while forcing a moment of hesitation in the viewer’s perception of Black womanhood - a disruption- in order to create space for a new kind of subjectivity.
